I just realized I never posted any of these photos I took of my very good friend Jess. She visited me from Boston(ish) a couple of months ago, and since she is a photographer too (check out her work here
!), we decided to shoot each other. With our cameras. It is SO strange being on the other side of the camera, and we both laughed a LOT. It was lots of fun, and she is super pretty so my camera loved her. Here are a few of my favorites:
I am really lucky to have such a fun and talented friend! My family and hers are going on vacation together later this summer, and I can.not.wait. I am sure our husbands and kids will be totally sick of our cameras by the time the week is over, but it’s going to be an absolute blast! And you will get to see the photos she took of ME when I launch my new website (that should happen sometime within the next couple of months)!
I remember when I was pregnant with my first son. I was kind of a career girl; I enjoyed going out on the town as often as possible with my husband and my friends for good food and plenty of good drinks :) I had no idea that when that little baby was laid on my chest, my life as I knew it was over. And when I was expecting my second little boy, I didn’t know how it would be possible to love anyone as much as I loved my first. I was wrong about that, too.I still love doing all those things (I doubt I’ll ever stop enjoying yummy dinners and my nightly glass of wine, and goodness knows I enjoy my few moments of alone time when I get them), but even more than that, I love coming home and seeing those sweet blonde heads asleep on their pillows, hearing their feet come running down the hall to me in the mornings, and getting lots of little boy hugs at bedtime.
Excuse me while I blink tears away for a minute… okay :) My latest session with little Layla and her parents reminded me of all those feelings. I talked with Layla’s mom about how surprised we both were to fall head over heels in love with our new babies. I saw how Layla’s dad looked at her and could tell that he was already wrapped around her (very tiny and perfect) little finger. It’s surprising. But it’s oh so fun.(I know what you’re all thinking – okay Chatty McChatterson, enough with the sap, let’s see some pictures, mmmkay?) Okay! here you go – one of the best models I have ever had the pleasure of photographing:
Congratulations again, J+B – your daughter is beautiful and I can’t wait to see her again!
I met K & D and their three pups at Fairland Park last weekend for a fun maternity session. We had a great time walking around the park, and the dogs got some exercise, too! But it was HOT – and reminded me that summer is just around the corner!
How beautiful is this mama-to-be? I loved the early evening light here, and her great smile!
I remember the excitement that came along with expecting a baby, and it is so fun to see couples experiencing that same excitement and joy. It’s such a special time and I am always honored when they ask me to capture those memories for them.
K & D, I am so excited for your new addition, and I can’t wait to meet your little one in a couple of months!
